The Future of Nutritional Genomics
One of the most exciting discoveries in nutritional genomics is a soy peptide called lunasin.
Lunasin is a 43-amino acid polypeptide originally discovered in soy and later confirmed to be present in barley, triticale and oats. Research into its properties began in 1996 when researchers at the University of California-Berkeley observed that the peptide arrested mitosis in cancer cells by binding to the cell’s chromatin and breaking the cell apart. The name of the peptide was chosen from the Tagalog word lunas, which means “cure”.
It is now one of the most heavily researched and scientifically supported nutritional compounds available today. Numerous independent studies demonstrate lunasin’s superior support for cancer-preventive effects, cardiovascular health, immune system support, significant anti-inflammatory properties, anti-aging, skin health, and more…

How Lunasin Works
Lunasin nourishes – provides the nutritional fuel to promote optimal expression of genes required for normal cell function.
Lunasin protects – reduces inflammation and cell damage caused by free radicals and other environmental hazards.
“Changes in the epigenome can cause serious diseases. Lunasin attaches to the histones and helps the epigenome function properly so that these changes do not occur in the cells,” explains Dr. Galvez.
Lunasin’s Health Benefits
Please note that everyone’s body is different and that the rate at which lunasin helps you achieve improvements in your health and the degree to which you achieve them is dependent on many factors, including lifestyle choices.

A Reliv Exclusive
Reliv International is bringing lunasin to the public through LunaRich® soy powder. LunaRich maximizes lunasin content and is the purest and most bioactive form available. It contains five to ten times more than ordinary soy powder. LunaRich is exclusively available from Reliv International, Inc. — a wellness company with a 28-year history of providing optimal nutritional supplements.
Reliv owns exclusive rights to LunaRich and holds three lunasin-related patents:
- A patent on the mechanism of action for reducing LDL cholesterol in the body (2 patents pertaining to this).
- A composition of matter patent on Reliv’s LunaRich technology as it relates to its superior ability to deliver bioactive lunasin to the body. Reliv uses a process that is chemical free and preserves the protein matrix that chaperones the peptide through the digestive system and provides greater bioavailability. No one else has this technology.
Before You Invest in Your Health, Consider the Source.
Dr. Alfredo Galvez discovered lunasin in 1996 and his culmination of 20+ years of R&D and patents produced the most bioactive form of lunasin available today.
Lunasin’s bioactivity after digestion is a better measure of bioavailability and potency than the amount contained in a product. Companies are attempting to piggyback on LunaRich X’s results and they are selling inferior and ineffective products. Dr. Galvez tested two lots for bioavailability. One lot tested at nearly untraceable amounts for bioactive lunasin and the other had a nominal amount of bioactive lunasin. LunaRich X tested at more than 500% more bioactive lunasin when compared to the most potent lot.
The difference is attributable to the soybean source and manufacturing process. Research shows there are many varieties of soy and not all have the same amount of bioactive lunasin. We work only with suppliers who meet very high standards and every ingredient is rigorously tested throughout the production process. Reliv has dedicated fields of soybeans grown exclusively for us. We direct the entire production process from seed to can to ensure safety, purity, and potency.
Reliv uses a process that is chemical free and preserves the protein matrix that chaperones the lunasin peptide through the digestive system and provides greater bioavailability. Others produce lunasin through a chemical extraction process that removes or destroys the protein matrix protecting the lunasin peptide from being digested and inactivated upon ingestion.
